Cute....but a bit overacted by some of the players....

....namely Vivian Blaine and Joan Evans. I almost cringed when either of them were "on"! Of course, there'd be tons of water scenes, with Esther in the movie, but it was so sad to read how that adorable little blonde girl died just after the movie was out. I was just wondering what had happened to those two kids.

Loved the last scenes at Great Lakes....seeing the sailors parade was awesome, though it as a very short scene. My husband graduated from Great Lakes in 1967, went on to serve three tours in Vietnam, afterwards, the last tour being in-country. But he said that part of the movie looked exactly like when he graduated---brought back memories.

BTW, my kids, when they were little, wanted one of those little sailor pool toys, like Esther swam with, near the end. Never found them one....alas!
