Favourite Musical Number?

I always love the 'Fit as a Fiddle' number.

That's a tough one, but I think I like the "All I Do Is Dream Of You" number.
Nowhere else in the movie did Debbie Reynolds look so good.
Pity that it was so short.

reply

Yes, I like that one too. She was great in that entire scene.

For me, the best part of that sequence was Kelly's (Don's) opening quip.

"Well, if it isn't Ethel Barrymore."

As that great philosopher Bugs Bunny said, "Something tells me I shoulda stood in bed."

Moses Supposes. Gene Kelly and Donald O'Conner defied gravity.

"Moses", and "Make "em Laugh". Probably my favorite musical numbers ever!

reply

They're all absolutely amazing but it's either that one or Make Em Laugh.

reply

'Make 'Em Laugh' for sure. Donald O'Connor deserves an Oscar for that one number alone. His energy is amazing.

Poorly Lived and Poorly Died, Poorly Buried and No One Cried

Good Morning! Good Morning! We've Talked the whole night through. Good Morning! Good Morning, to you.

And, of course, the great dance sequence that followed.

reply

Toss up between Make 'em Laugh and Singin' In The Rain.

“Moses Supposes” without a doubt followed by “Fit As Fiddle”. I’ve seen a video of Derek Hough recreate the “Moses Supposes” tap routine. His “partner” is Jerry of Tom and Jerry fame.

Well, here I am three years later commenting again on my favorite dance number. What I absolutely love in the "Moses Supposes" number is the high energy and precision tapping from Kelly and O'Connor. While, Kelly does a fine job with this number, I truly believe O'Connor out dances him......by far! O'Connor is so light on his feet and the fluidity that he has is far better than Kelly.
