god - the soundtrack is gorgeous

I haven't listened to it in a while (I've got the CD). I'm listening to it at work right now. Transports me to a better place!

The Pavanne is so beautiful.

GLORIOUS score, capped by the magnificent "Magic Boxes" sequence and its exquisite theme, surely the most gorgeous ever composed by Victor Young - incredibly, this score was NOT among the many for which he was Oscar-nominated.

In my case, self-absorption is completely justified.

Agreed

I just got a copy of the complete score myself...Victor Young was definitely one of the greats from the Golden Age of movie scores...awesome score...Around The World In 80 Days has to be his best though

The music was beautiful and kept reminding of something else. Finally I figured it out... the score for "Love Letters" another Victor Young score. Also exquisite.

Thanks, I will have to look that up.

I'll have to get it now. I would not have thought it was available. I was unaware that Victor Young had composed the score, but a few times the music began to break out in a theme very close to the main theme of Around the World In 80 Days, which he did four years later. I thought that Young might have written this score, and now thank you for verifying it for me.

About two weeks later: I got it and you're right, it's great. The sound is really good for an early 50's film as well.
