Scandal Sheet and The Man Who Cheated Himself

SPOILERS HEREIN

Compare Scandal Sheet (1952) with The Man Who Cheated Himself (1950). Both feature guilty mentors hunted by their proteges. Lee J. Cobb and Broderick Crawford (physically comparable types) both turn in compelling performances. The knife twists a little more completely in The Man Who Cheated Himself but the plotting of Scandal Sheet is leaner. Both could have been titled No Way Out. Both noirs deserve to be better known.

I saw the Scandal Sheet the other night and I really enjoyed it. Broderick Crawford was great as the volcanic boss who barks at people. I think the plot is quite similar to both the Big Clock and The Man Who Cheated Himself which I will watch later.

I enjoyed both movies a lot.
