Goofs!!!

In the World Series game, when Dean was pitching for the Cubs, versus the Yankees, the announcer raves, how Dean has been mowing down the Yankee bats.

He mentions Gehrig, Dimaggio, Crosetti, and others.

Then when the batter is shown, it is a right handed hitter, wearing number 4.
Lou Gehrig was number 4, for the Yankees, but he batted left handed.

Later, when Frank Crosetti was shown, hitting a home run, he was wearing number 3.
Crosetti wore number 1, at that time, and I believe George Sellkirk wore number 3, as it had not been retired yet, as Babe Ruth's old number.

They start the movie with a goof. They state that Dizzy came from the Ozarks.

He was not from the Ozarks. He came from a small town in the Arkansas River Valley Region south of the Arkansas River and just north of the Ouachitas. If they had said he was from the Ouachitas, I would have been ok with it.

But it's a common mistake. I lived one year in the Ouachitas in my childhood and 4 years in the Arkansas River Valley region. And I had relatives in the Missouri Ozarks. The term Ozarks comes from the French explorers who used it to describe the wilderness area north of the Arkansas River. So when people think everybody from Arkansas is from the Ozarks, I laugh.

They left out Ray Fladeboe? Oh no, not again!

When you're green, you're growing, but when you're ripe, you rot.

What about this goof: The St. Louis logo on all the baseball caps is incorrect. How could they have made a blunder like that?

reply

Maybe some lawyer for Major League Baseball told them they had to do it that way.
