Beautiful quote from Bette

The quote from Bette was beautiful. Actually this movie had a lot of great quotes and great characters. I wonder why it isn't being discussed more?

Also wanted to add this movie can be found on youtube although it has Evaluation Copy stamped across it.

Dull, foolish, vulgar to some but not to me. To me he was a man like a rock. Nothing could shake him. Nothing could shake his love. It was from him that I learned what love really was. Not a frail little fancy to be smashed and broken by pride and vanity and self pity. That's for children. That's for high school kids. But a rock as strong as life itself indestructible and eternal.

~ After reading this beautiful quote it already had me in tears remembering the movie. That is one of my favorite quote of Bette Davis. Also well as classic movie quotes. Another favorite quote of mine is from "Splendor in the Grass". When Natalie Wood recites that lovely passage in the end.

~ Trust InsideTheCastleWall the movie Splendor in the Grass is worth watching. You'll love it from beginning to the end. It by far one of the best classic films. The story plot & performances were excellent. When you watch remember to catch on the quote. By the way; that's a cool screen name you have. It's clever.

THIS is what stands out for me in this movie, too! It made me stronger and more willing to forgive and remember that we are all flawed and need the nourishment of love, every day of our lives.

Thank you.

It's very moving and I suspect it's the number one reason Bette asked to do this film. Gary Merrill was cast and brought home the script, she read it and ask who was going to play Keenan's wife and then when she found out it hadn't been cast yet, asked for the part. I'm sure the producers never dreamed Bette would accept a supporting part so soon after her triumph in ALL ABOUT EVE but she knew a memorable sequence when she read one, plus she and Merrill end the film so it makes her part all the more stand out.

Yes, but when she first met Trask, she said that she saw her late husband as a jerk - vulgar, dull and foolish (and then contradicts herself later with the above quote.)
