Similar to 1999's 'Hit and Run' **SPOILERS**

I was struck by the similarities between the two movies. "Hit and Run" is a made-for-TV movie about a woman who accidentally hits a child with her car. No one is around, it's raining, and the child is unconscious. The woman leaves long enough to phone for help. When she returns, a crowd has gathered. She overhears angry comments about what kind of person who would hit a child and not stop. Later, she tries to tell her husband, but like Paula's husband, he won't stop talking long enough to listen.

"Paula" ends on a much happier note than "Hit and Run." The woman in that movie is aware that the police are closing in on identifying her. She eventually gives herself up and loses everything.
