Let's Hear it for Charles McGraw


They don't make 'em like McGraw anymore.

That voice! The hardboiled manner! He was the king of the crime dramas and tough guy characters. He even parodied himself in "The Defiant Ones". As a kid, he was what I thought a police detective should be.

He never received the acclamation he deserved. Of course, he would probably tell me not to cry about it.

Agreed. He even does a great voiceover at the beginning of "His Kind of Woman" that totally sets the tone for the movie.

"No, I don't like to cook, but I have a chicken in the icebox, and you're eating it."

I remember that film from many years ago. Robert Mitchum and Jane Russell. What a Couple they made!

Have to order it from Netflix. Thanks for the reminder.
