Shot in same locations as True Grit?

I know both movies were mostly shot in Colorado. At one point in TNS I could swear I saw the meadow with Rooster Cogburn's showdown in the background. (I mean the first True Grit with John Wayne, not the remake.) Anybody know? thx

The closest similarities I can see in the imdb listing of locations is
1. San Juan Mountains, Colorado, USA for The Naked Spur, and
2. Ridgway, Colorado for True Grit. Ridgway is within the San Juan mountain range.
3. Durango, Co for both films.

True Grit also lists Gunnison and Montrose, CO, but I'm not sure if those towns are in the San Juan Mountains or the Elk Mountains.

Durango, Colorado is definitely in the San Juan mountains.

As far as specific valleys or meadows, I don't know. I have been to Durango, Pagosa Springs, and points south, and that part of the country is just beautiful.

Ouray is also listed for True Grit, but it says Ouray(Courthouse) so I don't know if this would include the valley or meadow you mention. Also, Ouray may be too far north to be in the San Juans. It's hard to find a good map that includes mountain range boundaries and towns.

If you haven't been to that part of the country it's gorgeous and worth all the time you can spend there. Of course, if you go in winter it will be covered in snow and parts of the great outdoors will be inaccessible. Summer and Fall are awesome, as is late Spring.
