James Stewart Signature Collection

I watched this recently as part of a Jimmy Stewart collection.

I quite enjoyed this movie. It definitely takes inspiration from "Treasure Of The Sierra Madre" but hey, if you're going to steal, steal from the best. Jimmy Stewart is like a more benevolent Fred C. Dobbs, Jessie Tate is a less extroverted Walter Houston and Roy is basically "the other guy" like Tim Holt in "Treasure Of The Sierra Madre".

It's really interesting to see how the villain psychologically toys with the men to create disharmony among the bounty hunters. He probably could have escaped to freedom if he hadn't been so quick to show Janey Leigh his true malevolent nature.
