Father O'Dowd

Director Leo McCarey not only brought Bing Crosby's "Father Chuck O'Malley" from one parish to another in GOING MY WAY and THE BELLS OF ST. MARY'S. He did the same thing with Frank McHugh as "Father Tim O'Dowd" -- from GOING MY WAY to MY SON JOHN. He finally got a parish of his own after taking over for Bing and being the Curate for old Barry Fitzgerald. That was mild stuff compared to confronting Godless Communism in JOHN.
