Loved the interaction with the chimps

I haven't seen this moves for ages. It is so cute. I would rank it up there with "Bringing Up Baby". Ginger Rogers acting as the little kid was so terrific. I know it was filmed a long time ago but I just wonder if anyone know how the interaction with the chimps went? Cary was great with them and I wonder how they all got along.

I agree with you.

What really made me think is that if this film were made today the chimp would be
CGI or motion capture. You would know it almost instantly and it would not be anywhere near as good as Monkey Business.

I also loved the way Ginger and MM were. A real hoot

Yes, the movie used both animals and children, something which movie-makers generally avoid like the plague. But both were very well done. That chimp was so well trained when sitting at the laboratory counter. It was almost as if it was human - which it is really.

I wondered too what it was like working w/ the chimp b/c it seemed so comfortable with Cary Grant. I was fascinated watching Esther mix the potion b/c she did seem so human-like the way she carefully poured and put the little caps back on the bottles!

um...no it was NOT human. That's why they are called non-human primates.

The people you idolize wouldn't like you.

I wonder how they have used chimps today...are they so safe to play with? Even if they are trained. Would filmstars carry them like that? Couldn't help thinking of this....anyway movie was fantastic!

I was amazed at the long scene where the chimp is all hyper...jumping on the counters, hanging from lights, etc., all while the lab assistant was trying to catch him. You can see the chimp try to bite the hand of the actor (at least it seems as if he was an actor, because if he was simply the chimp's wrangler he was a pretty good actor also.) As dangerous as we know these animals to be, I kept thinking how crazy it was to have that kind of dangerous activity, regardless of how well-triained the shimmy have been, in the company of big name stars, extras, etc. I mentioned to my wife that today that would all be done with motion capture, I'm sure. None of the actors showed any discomfort with being in such close proximity to the chimp. A truly awesome scene.
