why so few votes and activity on the board?

I'm watching it on TCM now. What I can recall, it's been on TCM before. It stars Lana Turner so it would attract some people, but sadly not.

It certainly should attract more people. The music is fabulous. Some people even say that "Villa" is one of the most beautiful songs ever written.

"The Merry Widow Waltz" is also a most memorable song. Whenever I hear it, I think of the Joseph Cotten character in "Shadow of a Doubt." What an awesome scene when Teresa Wright opened page 3 of the newspaper and saw in big, black letters: "WHERE IS THE MERRY WIDOW MURDERER?"

The chemistry between Fernando Lamas and Lana Turner was awesome. I read somewhere where they were quite a twosome while on the set of this movie.

I absolutely adore this movie but can't find it on dvd... Anyone know where I can get a copy!

Yes, ang-son, I hoped for some more comments, too. And why did not you write something?

I read some user reviews that said there was no spark between Turner and Lamas. I don't know whether they were watching most of the time, certainly there were a few quite thrilling kisses between them.

I watched it on TCM and came in a bit late, I was surprised to hear Lamas sing the Vilia song which I have always heard sung by the soprano, but understood the reason later.
I found Turner quite beautiful, why would people expect a widow to be very young I would never understand. And the dresses were gorgeous. I would like somebody to tell me who they think should have played the role.

"Heads will roll!" It was funny how relieved the widow was when the king told her that they were not so primitive as to behead people. But when he said: "Give an officer a gun and bullets and he'll know what to do," she showed what she was made of.

People compare it to the 1934 version, preferring the older one (black and white), but as I have not seen that, I was satisfied. Plot changes do not bother me.
