You are INSANE from watching too much garbage. This is a proto science fictional gem and far better than most including "Attack of the Giant Earplug Wearers" and "Lameo Strikes Again!"

Time is the only true purgatory.

One of the three best Ealing comedies of the early to mid fifties IMO; along with The Ladykillers and The Lavender Hill Mob.

Besides the still very relevant economics debating points the movie throws up, there is some great physical comedy in this film from Guinness and the support cast.

Yes, a "gem".

Sorry, no sex scenes or car crashes.

I think that it's only natural for a film made back in 1951 to have dated somewhat. It's still a wonderful little gem of a picture though with exquisite b&w photography and moments of genuine comic delight. And the entire cast of characters in this film were truly memorable.
