I have always wondered exactly where the outside scenes were shot; that is the mills and their surroundings. It looks very much like a Lancashire mill town , but does anyone know which one?

See the Reel Streets thread below. Burnley was one of the external locations, but apparently some scenes were also shot in Enfield and even Chelsea, if the information supplied is correct:
