Some of My Observations on MACAO

With all that bamboo and smoking going on I wonder if they hand any fires on the sets. Ms. Russell was truly built like a battleship. Gloria Grahame looked drugged up throughout the whole movie. It was a terrible, disappointing performance by Ms. Grahame. Maybe she had the flu. Thomas Gomez was a lot of fun to watch. He gave a good performance.

If you'll read the Trivia section on this movie it will explain Ms. Grahame's deliberately bad performance.

I thought Gloria was very sultry and evocative. It was said that she was angry at Hughes for ignoring her performance in In A Lonely Place so she did have some issues that affected her performance in this film but she is such a pro that I think she protrayed the character quite effectively.
