Turner Classic Movies just broadcast this movie!

I watched "The Lion and the Horse" on TCM (Turner Classic Movies) channel this morning. Nice movie although it needs some restoration work from the copy that TCM broadcast. Go to TCM and vote in favor of them releasing this movie to DVD.

I live in Texas, so I set my alarm for 5 AM this morning so I could watch this seldom-seen classic Western. I saw it and I love it!!!

Excellent family Western in beautiful color! Steve Cochran was in fine form as the cowboy who loves a horse enough to sacrifice everything for it! He was truly in his own element here, and should have made many more Westerns instead of playing bad guys in film noir potboilers. He would have been a big Western star.

Look for comic George O'Hanlon doing a Joe McDoakes-style comedy bit in the movie also!

This movie is a prime candidate for a Warner Archive DVD release - hopefully soon!
I can't wait to buy a copy! Go to the Warner Archive site and enter a request for this movie to be released on DVD. I did!

Always been a big fan of Steve Cochran's work. Don't know why his career didn't take off. This is the sort of part Glenn Ford would have played had this been an A picture, except I don't see Ford being better.
Perhaps women moviegoers didn't find Cochran attractive and male moviegoers preferred Kirk Douglas and Burt Lancaster. This is a fine companion movie to "Come Next Spring ", made 3 years later, starring Cochran and Sherry Jackson.

Absurdity: A Statement or belief inconsistent with my opinion.
