14th cavalry


There is a scene, at the end I think, when a cavalry hat is seen clearly, probably stuck on top of a crude wooden cross. It has brass insignia with crossed sabers and a 14 on top and a G below. Thus the hat belonged to a member of G company of the 14th Cavalry. In realvity there wasn't a 14th cavalry in yet in 1876. There were only ten US cavalry regiments from 1866 to about 1900.

Of course this movie takes place more in the wild west than in historical reality.
