Rest in Peace, Rebecca.

Elizabeth Taylor, 1932-2011

I hope this film is included in TCM's 24 hour salute to Miss Taylor in April.

It was telecast by TCM, last month, during its "31 Days of Oscar" gala celebration. I know, I watched it. In its entirety for the very first time!! I LOVED it!!! Elizabeth Taylor was NEVER more beautiful!!! A little "hokey?" Yes. Some on this board are calling for a remake. Where are they going to find an actress as beautiful as Elizabeth Taylor?

"You can't HANDLE the truth!" Jack Nicholson, "A Few Good Men."

I saw this movie in the theaters circa 1959, when it was reissued as part of a double bill with another Robert Taylor costumer, KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE. I was only a kid who had knew some women were pretty, and I had some vaque notion some were considered "beautiful" by the grown-ups; but I didn't know how beautiful a woman could be until I saw Ms. Taylor as Rebecca in close-up.

I caught it last month as well. And, likewise, it was also my first viewing. The film played out like something of a poor man's The Adventures of Robin Hood, but the love triangle was memorable and Elizabeth Taylor was absolutely radiant. She had such stunning beauty and Rebecca's character had such great subtle charm about her.

You're very fortunate to be able to have such a fond memory.

Only two (2) actresses have had THAT effect on me: Elizabeth Taylor and Ava Gardner.

I just saw "Ivanhoe" this weekend (also on TCM). I hadn't seen it in years. I'd forgotten how good a movie it was and how incredibly, jaw-droppingly, gorgeous Elizabeth Tayor was in it.
