GREAT FUN FOR OLD MILITARY HARDWARE FANS AND FANS OF BLONDE ACTRESSES

I had seen clips of this but watched the whole thing.

I liked it a lot,it is of its time, remember the cold war was hot in Korea when this was made.

Also hot was PEGGIE CASTLE,loved her as the blonde bar girl.

Well, I must admit that despite all its heavy-handedness when it came to characterization and drama (but in this kind of flick, that's expected, so I just accepted it as a natural part of the deal) and all its overtly propagandistic nature, I actually did enjoy the thing quite a bit as an action movie - and as an atomic war movie turned into a perverse quagmire seemingly swallowing the whole country bit by bit, remarkably not sparing the characters who'd basically acted as leads for considerable amounts of time. Sure, it was obvious that a huge deal of the stuff on-screen was stock footage - but at least it was edited together well and the film almost never lagged, rushing on at a healthy clip. Was quite fun. But, of course, then they decided to jump the shark at the last minute, when everything was going to hell most delightfully and radically, with an utmost gleeful joy... a f-cking hypnotist and his glass of brandy. What a bummer. But I'll still rate it 5/10 for an engaging vision of WW3 while it lasted and a cultural artifact so utterly of its time - instead of the rock bottom marks it's getting from others. Maybe I was just drunk enough for that. Who knows.
