Bought!

I found this at Walmart about 8 years ago waiting in line in the $1 movie bin.
I've watched it once and a half. The music is very good, and goes through Foster's issues with releasing his music versus the classical music of the day. (He was considered 'pop' in his era and was frowned upon by the Classical music performers in his day). Well, by the end of the movie we do see blackface performed by a large vocal group. They are as SERIOUS as can be performing...with shoe polish on their faces. You can't help but laugh, how silly it looks, and how serious they are singing. It's kind of odd, it doesn't seem hurtful at all when seen in this movie really. I need to go back and watch this movie again. Again an OLD movie about an even OLDER time. You actually feel for the actor playing Foster somewhat through the movie too.
It's an interesting movie and full of the old American songs of yesteryear.
Maybe when I have the time I'll add more info here on IMDB about this movie. Musicians should really take a look at this movie when given the chance.
