what a mix.

The story and acting is a off, BUT we get;
Leslie dancing
vaudeville
boxing
war
Louis Armstrong playing
Jack Teagarden playing
New Orleans
from the opening shot of the Huey P Long Bridge (railroad and car)
to a street parades in the famous city.

was thinking the same thing. a lot going on here. story is kind of cheesy, but you get all this other stuff too.

Yes this movie is a hot mess. My husband is old enough to remember New Orleans of the 50's and said the Huey Long Bridge footage was real but sadly this is filmed on a Hollywood lot not NO. But great recreation just the same,

I went along with the musical numbers all through the movie, since they were presented as performances at the Chez Bozo nightclub and at the oddly hybrid bar/jazz club/boxing gym. But when the final number came along and everybody in the crowd was singing and dancing, as if it was the Trolley Song in Meet Me in St. Louis, it got a little weird. Liked the movie, though, and Meeker, as always, is great.
