Entertaining Movie

This "Ghost Ship" is a very entertaining film. Hazel Court is lovely as always and the story keeps you interested.

Future star Patricia Owens has a small role as a girl attending a party on the ship. She has no lines, but completely steals one of her scenes, when she takes a deep drag from a cigarette and exhales a large cloud of smoke right into the center of the camera shot. That draws the viewer's attention to her and away from the main characters in that scene. Be sure to watch for that scene if you ever get to see this very good movie.

In terms of casting, best surprise for me was seeing Aussie actor Joss Ambler show up as the yard manager complete with Aussie accent, who then proceeded to steal all his scenes from the 2 ostensible leads, who were both pretty dire IMO.🐭

this is the only movie i've seen hazel court as the first name credited, i'm guessing because it's british, and her appearance is that of queen elizabeth. over half the running time nothing has happened... this does not pass as a movie to me, you might as well look out the window... this moves incredibly slow... when the train arrives at the station i just thought please get on the train and let's get out of here to another plot... then they spend the rest of the movie discussing what's logic... the movie does not live up to the promising title, you may look at my comment and think right just a boob who don't appreciate old movies, i prefer old movies, but it's quite extraordinary how uneventful it is... if you can find this movie entertaining i admire that, so i don't mean to be upsetting at all, but it's just too slow for me. the background music is distracting and the water is obviously looking like an actor standing in front of a screen. the boat or ship comment seem rather common, i remember it also being a joke in a columbo movie. the dvd doesn't include as much as subtitles, and after watching it reading "horror" on the front cover was like a joke. much of the plot reminds of "passage on the lady anne", i saw the remake of this when it had just come out on dvd because my buddy could handle new movies, though were blown away when i made him discover some old ones, i'm guessing it was a remake, the only thing i remember of it was the, not scary, but as usual with new movies, disgusting and off putting scenes. avoid both i say and play the computer game "the curse of monkey island" instead (inspiration according to some for the "pirates of the caribbean" franchise).

in bright summer light,
reminiscing old times,
you were always around,
women passing by in the warmth,
in neat clothing i wish you wore,
haunted by the memory of your singular form,
in summer setting heartsick driftin as a ghost.
