One Of The Major Disappointments Of My Childhood
was missing this movie back in 1952 when it was in the local theater! Which must show that I didn't have a very rough childhood, huh? Happily sitting on a movie house seat sucking a Sugar Daddy in the dark and watching the latest thriller was a big part of it.
For weeks before Denver & Rio Grande actually played, they showed the trailer ballyhooing the "actual HEAD-ON collision of two BULL LOCOMOTIVES!" as if it were the Second Coming. Loving noise and violence like any 8-year old brat, I looked forward to it with baited breath. But the weekend the picture showed, my family took me out of town, RATS!!! It was the 1980's by the time I saw it on a 19-inch color TV. Finally got the dvd copy to see it on the much larger screen I have now that I'm so old I have more money than time (my grouchy old wife says it's "more money than common sense.")
I would have liked it a lot better as a brat, but still good (see my review).
