Did they use a different horse for the boy to ride on?

The DVD i had skipped (stuck) in a few parts, perhaps i was just imagining things here, but towards the end of the film when the boy rescues the horse from the smoke & burning brush, the horse just seemed a lot smaller than the whole rest of the film. Yes? No? Odd.
