pirates of the caribbean

Did anybody notice the gag with the rowboat is repeated in PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN?

I noticed that too. There's also the scene where they are swimming under water. In POTC they're walking on the bottom of the ocean.

Shortly after seeing "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" I read here (on IMDb) that this scene was a homage to "The Crimson Pirate." Don't know if it was mentioned here somewhere or as trivia for Pirates. I can't find it now. Production notes for Pirates do state that Verbinski, the director, was "A fan of “Captain Blood,” “The Crimson Pirate,” “The Black Pirate” and other pirate movies in his younger days." I so loved that Verbinski put that scene in there.

I posted it sometime ago. I've been working on my own pirate story--Treasure Island with Zombies--in keeping with the current trend in horror fiction. There is even a movie Bonnie and Clyde with Zombies.

I missed Crimson Pirate last night on TCM. I had forgotten Lancaster's former partner Nick Cravat deservedly had second billing. They made quite a team. According to the host Cravat never spoke because he had a Brooklyn accent which didn't fit the characters he played.

If you look close you can spot Christopher Lee fighting Lancaster at the end of the movie. Quite a career when you consider he goes from fighting Lancaster to fighting Yoda. Of course, by that time Lee was up in years and needed a stunt double just as he did in Lord of The Rings.
