Loved each other? Or co-dependent roomates ?

I don't know why it's assumed that they loved each other, and in which way? As brother & sister, or husband and wife? Then there is love vs. in-love (including sex)

If they got married because they had to and didn't love each other then, why now? Can you really "learn" to love each other, or is it more a case of co-dependence? If he still resentful of her beneath the surface, can he still love her?
And I never viewed Lola as depressed; she seemed content talking to everybody, yet he was on auto-pilot.

Agree. If they lived today, they would have divorced or never married at all. I don't think they were a good match. Lola's a bit of an air head and he's rather serious. I think each of them would have been happier finding partners more suited to their individual personalities.
