Passing of Booth Colman

Actor Booth Colman, who made his film debut in the role of Pascal (the crewman who gets shot in the neck with an arrow) in The Big Sky, died on December 15, 2014, age 91.

Colman had a long and distinguished career as a supporting player, ranging from small parts to more prominent ones. But as an accomplished actor capable of a wide range of characterizations he was always worth watching. May he rest in peace.

To my knowledge, Mr. Colman's passing leaves only two cast members from The Big Sky still living, 62 years after its release -- ironically, perhaps, the film's two leads: co-star Dewey Martin, who turned 91 on December 8, and star Kirk Douglas, who turned 98 the following day, December 9.

December 2014 was a notable month for this film.
