Loved how he had a fan club within the movie (spoilers)

FIRST

With Mangala, the princess, and her maid all falling head over heels in love with him.

I thought it was very shrewd of the writer-director to put that in, making us aware of how attractive JAI was, making Raj's falling in love with him easier to believe.

SECOND

There was one dialogue that really jumped out at me. When the princess meets Jai at the felled tree that's blocking the road, Chandan comments that,
Cant you see two stars are about to collide?

At first I thought, well that reminds me of a Dilip Kumar song "Do Sitaro Ka Milan" (The tryst of two stars) from Kohinoor. I thought it was an intentional reference to a hit song, but then when I looked it up I found that film came out in 1959.

Then I thought, well, this could also be a wink, wink, nudge, nudge comment to draw attention to Dilip Kumar's star status and to put Nadira (debuting in this) on level pegging with him; essentially a "big up" from Mehboob, so that the audience wouldnt walk out of the hall, on seeing a new heroine get cast opposite Dilip, instead of Nimmi, who was well-known by then.

It was OK for me. A device to intensify the character Jai's stature as irresistible. But as Mangala was the intended bride, only the reaction of the maid was significant. For me she was not "head over heels" in love with Jai, she was sexually attracted. Like this she enhances the attractiveness of Jai for the princess.

For me it only meant that two socially important people (important for the villagers), who feel as distant but also as beautiful as stars, are about to meet and clash with unforeseeable results.
