Page Six reports on Lauer’s final days working at NBC, noting that Lauer was overheard telling a co-worker during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade that “this is going to be my last parade.” He was fired six days later. “He goes between sadness and acceptance of his fate, to disbelief how it all happened so quickly and how the situation was so out of his control,” a source tells Page Six. The source says that as he was presented with evidence after repeated interviews, Lauer’s demeanor changed. “He became quiet and didn’t argue,” said the source. “He accepted that it didn’t look good.”
