Neil Armstrong prediction

In 1962, Garry Moore asked Neil Armstrong's mother, what if her son became the first man to land on the moon. 7 years later, in 1969, Neil Armstrong was the first man to land on the moon.

I was lucky enough to tape this episode. I later showed it to my family. Needless to say, their jaws dropped with amazement.

My jaw dropped too and I've been telling others about it. One of my friends had a theory that just prior to that show, Kennedy had announced that we would have a man on the moon within a certain amount of time. So having Gary Moore ask an astronaut's parents about this predicted event wasn't so unusual.

Just a possibility.

reply

Maybe, but there were a lot of men chosen to be astronauts. The fact that they chose the Armstrongs was incredible luck.

My jaw dropped at the question. I was not surprised that "the Armstrongs from Ohio"'s son name was Neil as I knew he was from Ohio.
