Polaroid

I see Gary Moore demonstrate a Polaroid camera from time to time. During the demonstration he says that it takes 10 seconds from the time you press the shutter to when the picture is ready to view. I remember these cameras in the 60s and 70s and that they would take up to a minute for the individual pictured to develop. Did Polaroid cameras decline over the years as far as its ability to develop a quick picture? Or was there always an advanced model?

I'm not old enough to know about pre-1960s models, but having owned a Polaroid from the early 90s, I really doubt it.
