Very Sad

I am so sad to see this show end. In my opinion, it had better storylines going than some of the shows still running, and I wish that it had been saved or picked up by another network. I have watched this show the majority of my life. I will definitely miss the characters and the actors who played them! Boo to the network for not keeping them!!!

I couldn't agree with you more! I've never missed an episode in over 14 years, although my mom and grandma watched it my whole life. I will definitely miss Guiding Light too. Farewell Guiding Light.

I have tried to watch The Y & R and AMC. After watching the competition I can't understand how they could have canceled GL. GL had heart the other shows just don't have it. Lots of the folks on AMC are from GL but it just isn't the same. Guiding Light was better than any soap left. It was fresher, bolder, better acted. I loved the new filming style and outdoor shots. The other soaps feel dated and stale in comparison. When they switched the style it was rough and the sound was bad at first but when they hit their stride they were on fire. Phillip coming back and the refocus on the core of the show were amazing. I want my Light back and I want it now.

I started watching "Guiding Light" after the cancelation of "Texas" because Pam Long was such a terrific writer. I didn't stay with it loyally but did audit mostly for "Reva". When news of the shows demise hit, I intended to watch the finale but was shocked to see no network even bothered to carry it where I live. Daytime has gone to hell & the passing of "Guiding Light" does not bode well for series like "As the World Turns" or "Days of Our Lives"
