Favorite GL Weddings Ever!!!

There were many fab weddings on GL through the years but which ones were your favorites?

Personally I loved:

1. Billy and Vanessa's Garden Themed Wedding... Gorgeous! The women guests wore turn of the century garden dresses and Vanessa looked beautiful!

2. Kurt and Mindy... the church was double booked (I believe) so Phillip offered up Spaulding grounds for the ceremony. The church sent the wrong wedding garmets to the ceremony and Mindy dressed as a Princess and Kurt as a Prince riding in on a white horse!

3. Josh and Reva... Cross Creek setting was beautiful. The guests riding in on bikes.

Those are a few of my favorites off the top of my head. How about you?

I still miss GL! and now ATWT! What is the world coming to?

reply

Reva and Josh at Cross Creek and Richard and Cassie's. So beautiful. I loved Laura's dress!

Katharine Hepburn died yesterday; I don't have to believe it if I don't want to.

Matt and Vanessa in Alexandra's botanical garden. Matt looked dashing in his kilt and Vanessa was glorious in her purple gown (she looked so regal). Their wedding seemed like two people actually getting married; it was very touching. I loved the bagpipes and the whole Irish theme too.

-Tony and Annabelle
-Kurt and Mindy (loved the royal setting, and the scenery and music that topped it off)
-Josh and Reva (the 1989 Cross Creek wedding)
-Beth and Phillip
-Vanessa and Billy (their 1993 wedding when Henry gave Vanessa away on a golf cart)
-Nick and Mindy (inside the Lewis house. That house looked so cozy. Loved Mindy's dress and their vows to one another were beautiful.)
-Alan-Michael and Lucy
-Rick and Abby

I also liked Lucy & AM's wedding. I remember Soap Opera Digest picking it as the worst wedding that year & I so disagreed! The only thing that I liked about Mindy & Nick's wedding was the way that Vanessa told Alexandra off about leaving Mindy alone! Loved that! I also liked Nick & Susan's wedding even though they played music through their vows & you couldn't hear what they were saying, but you could tell that they loved each other. One more is Frank & Elani.

reply

They picked it as the worst wedding of the year?! Um, yeah I would definitely disagree lol...So Nick and Susan did marry on camera! I couldn't remember if they did or not. They were such a sweet couple, as well.

reply

Yeah, they said that it was too elaborate & not in a good way. I thought that it was cool how Lucy was lifted up to be with A-M. Also isn't that when Phillip returned? Yes, Susan & Nick got married onscreen, but they played music through out their vows. When Susan threw her bouquet she threw it straight to Lucy. It was cool how she did it.

reply

Yep. He crashed their reception....Yeah, that's awesome that she threw it to Lucy. I've been watching some of the old episodes on YT. There is a user by the name of bandstandmike that's been posting episodes from 1995. He says he's gonna post the rest of the year, all of '96 (definitely can't wait for that, since most of that year seems to be a rare find), and the first 3 months of '97. So I've been keeping up with those. :)

He's the one that says that he knows quite a few of the actors right? I just saw when Lucy told Buzz that she got raped. Loved that father/daughter duo! I stopped watching GL back in '98. Got tired of Reva & Cassie hogging the screen. Plus I felt that the writers were turning once normal people crazy to make them look good. Dinah was my favorite character at the time & yes, she was a bit whiny at times, she wasn't a psycho until they turned her into one & over that loser Hart just to make Cassie the victim & look good! I think that if they would have moved Dinah on to Vanessa's doctor, they would have had a higher fan base than Cassie/Hart & that's not what the writers wanted.

reply

Yep that's him! He knows Marj (whom he's a huge fan of), all (if not all, then most) actors that played Hart, Rick Hearst, and Toby Poser. I just finished watching the episode where Dinah and Roger kiss in front of Ross, Blake, Vanessa, Matt, Josh, Annie, Ed, Lillian, Fletcher, and Holly. I started watching in '95, around the time when Reva returned, the Brent/Marion s/l, and Dinah marrying Roger. I quit watching in '99, after Dinah and Hart were gone. You're talking about Dr. Michael Burke, right? Then he and Dinah would've been great! Dinah (WM's version, particularly) is an interesting character and fun to watch. Nothing against Reva and Cassie, but I agree. They took up WAY too much time.

KZ left in I think 1990 & returned in 1995. IMO, the best time of GL was when she wasn't there. Every single character got a storyline. You missed the best part of GL if you didn't start watching until '95. You stopped watching after Hart/Dinah left? You liked them as a couple? Yes, Dr. Michael Burke is who I'm talking about. Like I said, if TPTB would have put them together they would have taken the spotlight off of Hart/Cassie. I liked Dinah too. WM's Dinah was different from the Dinah's before. She was a nice character, but when she came back she was a bit of a fire cracker!

reply

Dinah and Hart weren't the best couple, but they're better than Hart/Cassie. Dinah was so much prettier, IMO. She had that golden age of Hollywood look. I saw some '90-'94 episodes on YT, and yes, they are great! They definitely did better w/o KZ. My fave story lines from that era were Phillip and Beth's wedding, or anything that involved Roger, Alexandra, or Nick. After watching old YT episodes from the 80s and on up, I prefer the Reva of the '83-'90 era than '95 and on up. I remembered feeling kinda bad for her when she first returned to town, but as soon as Cassie came in the picture those two just seemed to mean-girl a lot of people. Not to mention, the campy plots (ie. the clone and the time-travel through the painting) Speaking of Roger, my whole family liked his story lines. We felt the show really went downhill when Zaslow died. Like I said, my mom and I stopped watching in '99. My older brother, sister-in-law, grandma and aunt watched til the very end (the latter two started watching in the 70s).

Well when Marshall Hillard was playing Hart I didn't mind the character, but when Frank Grillo took over, I stopped liking Hart. I didn't like Hart/Dinah asa couple. I so agree about WM's looks. I remember when people used to ask me why I didn't like Cassie & I would tell them that I didn't care for the actress & they said that I was jealous of LW. Yes, I think that she's very pretty, but if I was going to be jealous of somebody it would be WM, not LW. I love the classic Hollywood look & that's what WM had. My mom told me about the clone story. It looks like I left at the right time. I stopped watching when Annie was about to leave. Michael Zaslow & Tobey Poser would have been dynamic together as Roger & Amanda! I loved Roger Thorpe. I actually knew somebody of the same name.

reply

LOL! You knew someone named Roger Thorpe? That's pretty funny! I actually went to high school with a guy named Shane Lewis, and about a month ago at work, I helped a customer with something, who happened to be named Judy Evans. But yeah, I agree. '98 was a good stopping point. You didn't miss much. After '97, I think, was when the show went downhill. After '99, the only time I ever saw the show was if I was at my grandma's or brother's house, when they had it on. However, I did watch the final week. Cynthia Watros was superb on that show. I remembered watching the SOD awards the year she left and my dad was hoping she'd win. Speaking of looks and Toby Poser, I was in a play today and was curling my hair while getting ready and was reminded of her curly hair lol. She had such pretty hair! Michael Zaslow was a handsome man, as well! Cassie's pretty, but I like I said, I thought Dinah was prettier. All the Dinah actresses were pretty. Paige Turco and Wendy Moniz were probably the prettiest, IMO. GL was chock-full of good-looking actors in the 80s and 90s.

Finally got to see Nick and Susan's wedding last night on youtube on bandstandmike's channel. So beautiful! The song that was playing was very nice, but I wish their vows to one another were audible.

I love Jesus Christ and am 100% proud!

reply

Yeah, me too! I really liked the friendship between Lucy and Susan. And the love story between Nick and Susan. I still remember how Nick told Susan that it didn't matter that she had AIDS.

reply

If anybody remembers Alan and Elizabeth's wedding ...

reply

Were. Alan & Elizabeth married onscreen? I thought they arrived in Springfield (1977?) already married. I loved Elizabeth and hated that once she left she wasn't really mentioned again (at least that I can remember).

There were so many weddings I loved. I think my favorites would have to be Kelly's & Morgan's, as well as Quint's & Nola's.

reply

You are correct ...Right after I posted that, I had second thoughts about it ...It might be Hope I'm thinking of ....and yes, Nola and Quint's wedding was beautiful ....She was my favorite character at the time ...

reply

Maybe you were thinking of Alan and Hope's wedding in Bert's living room? I would love to see that again.
