Went Downhill

NOPE, 2007 after the 70 yr anniversary special episodes...but really 2006.

Yes somewhere between 2005 and 2006 it changed and wasn't the same anymore.

Jumped the shark with "Cleva" and went the rest of the way to hell in a hand basket with the Santos' and that dumb time travel-through-the painting storyline.

And then as if it couldn't get any worse there were the Peapack outdoor shoots, where the actors were converting park restrooms into dressing rooms.

JFP's final year on the show -- 1994 -- was really the beginning of the end. The show was a mess. That was when some mob family moved into town briefly (have long forgotten their name). Mindy lost all her edge when they replaced Kimberly Simms with Ann Hamilton and then Barbara Crampton. The stunning Marcy Walker was wasted playing the forgettable role of Roger's stepdaughter. Justin Deas was chewing up entire sets. Harley was off the show and the very bland Lucy Cooper was brought in as a substitute. Alan Michael, once played as the Dark Prince, was bumbling and boring. Alexandra lost all her claws when Marj Dusay took over the part. The storytelling became disjointed and nothing seemed to gel anymore.

Quite a contrast to the wonderful 91-93 era stories at the beginning on JFP's reign where everything was working. And by 95, CBS stations were moving the show to a morning time slot and there was talk of cancellation. They say JFP always leaves shows in worse shape than when she arrives. It was never more true than with GL.

Reva's cloning. How could we take the show seriously after that?
