4 Stars! This movie is a treasure...

I first saw it many years ago and it has remained one of my all time favorites. There are so many things in it I love! Hope Emerson is just awesome, she looks and sounds so authentic - love it when she picks out a photo (from others mounted on a board) of her, hopefully, future husband and grumbles, 'he's got a face like a mackeral!'. The Japanese cook is wonderful, and in a drunk scene he re-enacts an old cliched (even back then!) melodrama using a folded paper bow. The little dog, riding in a bucket underneath a wagon, and trotting along in the shade. The gal with glasses, blowing away a villain as cool as a cucumber. And the ending! When the wagon train stops right out of town and until the credits - just a wonderful movie!
