I saw the movie

My parents, siblings and I saw this movie back in the 1960's and it left a lasting impact on me. We moved to another town in 1961 and there was a concrete slab about 6 ft. by 6 ft. in our back yard. My mom wouldn't let us play on it because she was afraid the same thing would happen to one of us that happened to this little girl. Even though I'm almost 60 years old, I still remember this movie.

I saw this movie just last night on DVD. The last time I saw it before then was on TV in 1971, when I was 7 years old. I didn't even know the title until a year ago from the IMDB question board. I remember asking my Dad "Why are all those people running & fighting in the streets?", and he said that it's Blacks vs Whites. It was in this film that I first learned that there were differences between the races--differences enough to fight over. It has not been seen on free TV, cable or on general home video since the early 70's, and now I see why.
