I wonder if people are missing the point of this movie?

I wonder if people are missing the point of this movie (yes it is poorly made which doesn’t help). Here we have a top-notch scientist that (as we learn) is overly-focused in science. He is forced into gradually learning science has it’s limits and that even human “savages” learn things from nature that science hasn’t (hint; the movie’s title, which has no apparent connection till towards the end of the film).
