Did Emond OBrien have sex appeal?

Please! Ladies (or females of other self-descriptions) ONLY answer this!

I've been a big fan of Edmond OBrien ever since I first saw him on the big screen as a child about the time Two of a Kind was released. I thought I had seen most of him movies, especially his starring vehicles. I had missed the Bigamist and this one until recently, though I saw the theatrical trailer for the Bigamist as a child in a theater. I think his appeal for most guys, as for me, as a leading man was that he was an everyman, not a pretty boy, but a beleiveable, tough but vulnerable regular guy, easier to identify with than some of the more polished stars. Not to mention he was a terrific actor.

He had enough romantic leads, as in Two of a Kind, he must have had some sex appeal to at least some women of the '40's and '50's. As a guy, I can't tell whether he did. My wife says, no, but she is very hard and oppinionated. Enlighten me, ladies.

Maybe you will have better luck getting a response if you post on the Edmond O'Brien page.

Thanks for your advice. Apparently not many have watched Two Of A Kind. I posted the same on the Msg Board for The Bigamist and have had a number of responses.

I always thought he was extremely sexy until later in life when age--and unfortunately booze--caught up with him. Even when he played a schmuck, in The Barefoot Contessa for instance, I found him hot.

Hot, huh! In The Barefoot Contessa!!!! Thanks, cnicknz. Obviously you are a good-hearted lass with whom any of us would have a chance, everything being equal.

Have you seen 7ll Ocean Drive? I've missed it somehow all these years, and am getting set to order it for more than I usually like to spring for a DVD.

Judging by this movie - definitely not! I am aware that tastes may vary, but he had neither a sexy body, nor a sexy face. In Two of a Kind he looked more like a dock worker than the seductive type IMHO.

Many women, especially mature ones, realize the content of the book is way more important than the cover. It's sad that most men don't. That's true no matter what their age or how lonely they are or how many times they've been burned by a beauty. They won't "settle" for a nice but less attractive woman.

I always liked O'Brien and found him interesting and intelligent, which made him attractive in my eye. Far more appealing than the pretty boys who couldn't act. When I was dating, smart, funny and kind were what I looked for.

O'Brien does have big lug appeal. More of a manly man than a pretty boy.

I can understand why the Brandy Kirby would go for him.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.
