Vera Miles

I see that Vera Miles is listed as a showgirl (uncredited) in the cast. I find it a coincidence that years later that she would co-star with Janet Leigh (one of the stars of this movie) in Hitchcock's "Psycho". Anyone know which scene she's in in this movie?

This 1951 gem has just been rerun on UK TV (channel BBC2): what a delight for a Saturday morning!

Thanks titch-2 for the notification re Vera Miles. I'd never have noticed her/known she was in it if I hadn't read your posting!

Yes, Vera Miles is in the film. She's in a scene c. halfway through the film (c. 47mins in) where they first start rehearsing for the Bob Hope TV programme. She is wearing a dark-red-&-black chequered workout outfit: shorts + top, with a white trim to the waist & white cuffs. She has no lines to say!, hence the uncredited role.

This is the scene immediately after we see the Pelican Falls Gazette headline ("Nancy to make TV debut").

The scene is soon after the scene where we first see Ann Miller (tap) dance. The film could have done with a lot more of that BTW! Especially as Ann Miller was already known to cinemagoers as she had already appeared in 'On The Town', a role for which she is well-known, two years before; but - hey ho...!

Re Vera Miles: she dances for a few seconds only. Blink & you'll miss her!

from SceneByScene (UK) . . . I films & Freeview TV!
