That's an interesting quirk. I'll have to check out some of his other stories.
Apparently he was the writer of the story this movie was based on.
There was a Lemcheck mentioned in 'Big Red One', a Lemcheck in Steel Helmet, and one in Merrill's marauders.

I hadn't visited this board in several weeks and did realize you'd asked this question. Fuller is credited with writing the story, hence his signature Lemchek character.
