Just saw this for the first time and loved it. An excellent thriller and a good mystery too as Kennedy(Powell)tries to discover who on the train is the potential assassin. Excellent performances from the whole cast especially a young Ruby Dee and Powell.

This is a very thoughtful, imaginative, and interesting movie. It's not only entertaining but also informative. It may not be a true story but it does an excellent job of reflecting the mood and climate in the country during that time. The different characters illustrate the various reasons why some people, not just Southerners, were opposed to Lincoln and his plan to abolish slavery.

I was surprised at how excellent it was. A fast moving film noir thriller based on the 1861 "Baltimore Plot" to assassinate Lincoln.
John A. Kennedy eventually became the New York City Superintendent of Police.
