Does anyone know if this movie will ever come out on DVD?
I used to watch this movie when I was a 9 or 10, and I know it had such a profound influence on my imagination, all that fantasy and magic and beauty. I was thrilled to find it on VHS at my library, but would love to own it on DVD. If anyone ever hears of a DVD release please let me know!

The August newsletter from the Criterion Collection says that a DVD of this film is "Wrapping up production."
I can't think of any DVD company I would have liked to do it more, even if they are a bit overpriced sometimes.

Amazon USA internet site is indicating that the Criterion edition is released on November 22nd 2005. Also in the UK the December 2005 edition of Gramophone magazine the MDC advert shows "Beecham conducts Hoffman on DVD"! for £15.99 - apparently including 2 cds. All the best.
