It's next on the list to have a full digital restoration sponsored by the Film Foundation. They've done The Red Shoes, they are currently finishing off The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp and the next on their list is The Tales of Hoffmann.

The fully restored version of The Red Shoes got a DVD & Blu-ray release by Criterion.

This sounds very promising!!

Any updates? Blimp just came out earlier this year.

It took about 8 years to do the full restoration on The Red Shoes. Then it just took 4 or 5 years to do The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp. It's a long, slow process but what they learn doing each one helps them do the next one so they're getting faster - but I expect it will be a while yet

The Criterion DVD I bought several years ago, I think looks fine. However, I also said the same thing about THE RED SHOES, before its restoration and blu-ray release! So I say bring on the works!

My copy of "One of Our Aircraft Is Missing" is pretty dreadful.
I'd also love to see "Contraband" get the Criterion treatment.
Am I just dreaming, Steve?

Yes, sir, I'm going to do nothing like she's never been done before!

There's a decent version of Contraband on DVD, by Kino. Available at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005AXA1/papas-20

There are various versions of One of Our Aircraft Is Missing available, often in collections of war films but also as a standalone film. See http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000FFJVIM/papas-21 or http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001GNG31K/papas-20

Neither of them are on Criterion's radar AFAIK

A blu-ray is definitely coming - I was at the BFI/LFF screening today and they said as much! Fingers crossed it will be out soon - I need to see it again!

I'd imagine it'll be getting a Blu-Ray re-release by Criterion before too long, but I haven't heard anything concrete. They did a beautiful job with The Red Shoes, Black Narcissus and The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, so I have high hopes for this one. The Archers' films are so gorgeous to look at, especially their color works, and Tales of Hoffmann is particularly beautiful.
