Something I thought about Stella

Just watched this for the first time after reading a lot about it. In parts of the film, Stella strikes me as not being the abused housewife she's painted as. When she talks to Blanche about their wedding night and describes Stanley smashing all the light bulbs - she sounds excited and a little turned on. She also has no problem standing up to him, slapping him or shouting back at him when he gets forceful. I kind of got the impression that Stella *likes* Stanley's violent side and is attracted to it. She doesn't seem scared of him - and she actually does walk out when he hits her. So while that doesn't change the fact that Stanley is an abusive brute, to me the relationship comes across as mutually destructive - where Stella is turned on by the drama to some degree.
