I saw this for the first time...

... only a couple years ago on the recommendation of a friend. I'm in my 50s and don't know how I could have missed this landmark film with my interest in old movies, and war movies to boot. Heck, I'd never even HEARD of it. Anyway, I'm sure glad I got to see it. My dad was in Korea and was one fortunate individual in that he was there before all the action started and was in WWII after all the action was done. I was on my way to being drafted in Vietnam, but they 'wound down' the war and by the time the Gulf rolled around I was too durn old! Call us lucky, I guess.

This was the very first film I saw when a child in the late fifties and snuck down to the tv room where my parents were watching it. The buddha scene stuck in my mind for years.

I just watched it on TCM.

It gets a 7.7 here on the IMDb?!?

wow. It's a 6 at best.

It was shot in just 10 days and looks like it..........

This "film" is more like a television production from the time period.

The story is dull and the characters undeveloped.

Over-rated movie.
