Slaughter Trail showing in the UK May 24th 2014 on BBC2

I saw this film when I was a kid and had given up on it ever being shown on TV again. But, it is on in the UK this Saturday (24th May) at 6:15am on BBC2. I know no-one is reading this, as there's only been 3 posts in total but, just in case....

Now to see if the film is as unintentionally funny as I remember.

I'm reading!

And looking forward to the movie, after hearing about *that song*...

Ah, I knew if I wrote "No-one will read" that some-one would read - it's like taking an umbrella means it won't rain.

Did you watch the movie ? I watched it this morning and whilst it was not quite as completely silly as I remembered, it was still very enjoyable. And, oh that song - "Hoofbeat Serenade" - I'm certain I hadn't seen the film in decades but I remembered that song really clearly.

Anyway I hope you got/get to see the film and that you enjoy it as much as I do. It's on the BBC iplayer for the next 7 days.

I enjoyed it, mostly! Some of the dialogue and characters were unexpectedly good.

But the meshing of 'musical' with 'western' (particularly along with the pointless slaughter of so many 'redskins') was just... weird. I really cringed when some of the characters were attempting to brush horses and sharpen sticks in time to the music. One of the higher-ups must have imposed their pet idea on what would've been a fairly mediocre story.

The songs were catchy though!

I recorded it and am watching it now. It is so bad it is terrific! I too remember it from back in the day, and it was the song that reminded me.

Ah, that song. 'Hoofbeat Serenade"

"You could only hear the sound
Of the hoofbeats on the ground
And the wheels as they went 'round
On Slaughter Trail."

Well, this is a bit spooky. I occasionally check in on this board to see if there are any new posts, but, I genuinely hadn't looked for ages and just now I thought "Ooh, I'll take a look" and there's a post a mere 8 hours old - what are the chances ?

I especially like the part where they've been riding for hours and everyone's tired and the song slows down too.

Chances are good. To whomever posted the lyrics to that damn song, I hope you know I will have it playing endlessly in what's left of my brain. Just like it did for the thirty or forty years since I first saw it on late night t.v.. But look at the bright side. Hoofbeat Serenade helped defeat the Red Menace!

It was repeated today on Spike here in the UK - colour print too although it wasn't very crisp. Still it was great to see it and hear that song!
