Good film, unusual heroine, gorgeous modern beach house.

As far as "B" noirs go this was a good film. I initially found the film predictable but as it unfolded even I was surprised by some of the twists.

At first I found the mousy heroine cloying (a prim actuarial accountant who wore more layers of unflattering clothing than any heroine I've ever seen, described by her aunt as "the prettiest girl there" which wasn't hard since the heroine was practically the only female under 40 in the film). But then I appreciated how different she was. Though I found such a practical woman so easily falling in love and being so trusting a bit out of character.

The true star of the film was the cliff top Frank Lloyd Wright-ish beach house built by the main architect character for himself. (I didn't know architects were so well compensated!) Makes one wish such a house truly existed. But I suppose back then such a place with such lofty dimensions, high ceilings and vast expanses of glass on such a precarious site was technically impossible and could only exist as a matte print and a Hollywood set.
