Can someone please confirm a line from the film?

It's a line that Peter Lawford's character says when he's driving with Jane Powell. He says it when he's either driving her to the family estate (to pick up the dishes he plans to give as a wedding gift) or away from it.

It goes something like: "You ought to be happy living alone by yourself before you get married." Can someone with the DVD handy please clarify what the actual line is?

Did you ever find the line on your own since your post? If not, I think it was something like (through Lawford's British accent): "I think you ought to enjoy living with yourself before you ask someone else to."

In any event, the full movie is on Youtube, and the scene is at around 32:15.

Thank you. Yes, that's about the gist of it.

Somehow, it had never occurred to me before to take a look on one of the subtitling sites for the English subtitles [slaps forehead]. When I did so, this is what I found:

I think you have to enjoy living with yourself before you have the nerve to ask anyone else to.

Thanks very much for the reply.
