Lackluster songs, indifferent acting and indicative of the boring 1950s to come. Lordy, but this was lachrymose and dragging. I gave it a 3 or 4, it was so boring.

Wendell Corey never set the world on fire, but I did expect more from Jane Powell. Poor girl.

Best thing in the movie? Technicolor.

But the clothes! The gowns! All in oddball technicolor hues! You can't expect much from this kind of bland time-killer, but you can goggle at the costumes.

the clothes? yes... let's particularly goggle at the ridiculous Amish or Shaker hat Jane Powell wore out to dinner early in the film, when she wore the blue dress w/ the big pilgrim collar. :-)
